Well it’s that time again. Time for me to remind you that the DX/Contesting Special Interest Group meeting will take place Tuesday evening, May 27th at 7PM at our World Famous headquarters. 

Among our topics of discussion will be the ARRL International Digital Contest that will be held June 7-8. We will also discuss any other topic(s) that members bring up including upcoming contests in June.

As always, the meeting will be available on ZOOM. So I hope to see a lot of members either in person or on ZOOM.

Hi everyone, There’s a group build coming up in July. On Saturday, July 12th, I’ll be leading a session at the club site. We’ll be building a 3-band Linked Dipole. Time will be 9am -12noon.

A linked dipole is a multi-band dipole where the radiator is cut into sections, and the bands are changed by connecting or disconnecting the relevant sections.

I have a few of these antennas. I love the simplicity of them. They’re easy to build. There’s no soldering; Most of the connections are done using crimped PowerPole connectors. We’ll be using 18 gauge silicone wire, which is less prone to tangling. With the exception of the center insulator, all insulators will be3D printed.

The cost will be $50 ($51.52 via Paypal). Since I’m printing the parts, I need an accurate count of participants by July 1st. You can register on our website at https://www.portcars.org/wp/group-builds/#dipole. There is a limit of 10 participants, so register early.

been lots of rule changes over the past several years, and there are
lots of “bonus” points to be accumulated – make sure you are getting all
the points available to your operation.
