PRESIDENTS REPORT

DISCUSSION ON INVITING A BOY SCOUT TROOP TO THE CLUB SITE FOR A DEMONSTRATION OF

AMATUER RADIO AND CONTESTING, DATES AND TIMES TO BE DETERMINED. I WILL BE LOOKING

FOR 12 VOLUNTEERS TO PUT ON THE TRUNK FEST ON JULY 12. THIS HAS BEEN TENTATIVELY

APPROVED BY OUR LANDLORD. N8WCP HAS AGREED TO BE OUR PIO OFFICER, THANKYOU. WE

DISCUSSED CHANGING THE CHRISTMAS DINNER TO A LUNCHEON ON A WEEKEND ONCE WE

GET A CONFIRMED DATE. THIS IS TO SEE IF WE GET MORE MEMBERS TO ATTEND. PCARS IS STILL

LOOKING FOR A SECRETARY FOR THE CLUB. FIELD DAY SITE HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY THE

FREEDOM TWSP TRUSTEES. WE ARE GOING TO CHANGE NOTIFICATIONS FROM CONTSTANT

CONTACT TO GROUP IOS TO SAVE MONEY FOR THE CLUB. PAY PAL BUTTONS WERE PLACED ON

THE WEB SITE FOR OUR TWO CHARITIES THAT WE SUPPORT AND DONATIONS WILL BE

INCLUDED TO OUR DONATION FROM THE GENERAL FUND. NONE OF THE MONEY GOES TO OUR

CLUB. I WILL TRY TO SCHEDULE A CLUB CLEAN UP TOWARD THE END OF MARCH.

ACORNS OFF DATE AND PLACE TO BE DETERMINED. HE IS HAVING A CONTEST THIS WEEKEND

AT CLUB SITE. JOHN WILL BE COVERING FOR GENE THIS TUESDAY FOR POTA SIG.

PCARS Monthly Meeting 4/13/26 @7:00pm

Please accept my invitation to attend the PCARS April Meeting! I hope you will come out and spend the evening with us – it’s always better live and in person! The meeting starts at 7:00PM SHARP – (so get there early) at the Kent American Legion Post 496 located at 1945 Mogadore Rd. Kent, OH 44240.. Better yet, get there early so you can purchase your 50/50 tickets and rag-chew with the other PCARS members before the meeting!

Our Featured Speaker will be Grace Papay – K8LG who will be presenting on Amateur Radio Satellite operations. Grace is a young lady with lots of Ham Radio experience, especially in the area of Satellite operations. If you know of any young hams, or young folks in general, this would be a good opportunity to introduce them to some of the fun that’s available to them as an Amateur Radio Operator!

PCARS Field Day GOTA Station help needed!

Subject: Get On The Air! ️ Join the GOTA Station at 2026 PCARS Field Day

Dear Fellow Amateur Radio Operator,

Whether you just received your Technician Class license or you are a General, Advanced, or Extra Class operator who has been inactive (intended for growth and mentorship, not for seasoned operators to rack up points) and is looking to get back into the swing of things, this invitation is for you!

The Portage County Amateur Radio Service (PCARS) invites you to participate in the 2026 ARRL Field Day. We are specifically looking for operators to help us run our Get On The Air (GOTA) Station, operating under the callsign KP4VZ.

Why join the GOTA station?
· Re-Engage and Learn: This station is designed specifically for those looking to gain on-the-air experience and eventually transition to regular club stations.
· Per ARRL GOTA Rules: This station is reserved for Technician Class operators and generally inactive licensees (General or higher).
· Family & Friends: We encourage you to bring your family and friends! They are welcome to watch, and we would love to get them on the radio to experience amateur radio firsthand.

Event Details:
· Location: Freedom Township Park (On OH-700)
· Date: June 27 – 28, 2026
· Operations: Saturday at 2:00 PM (1800 UTC) through Sunday at 2:00 PM.
· Setup Crew: We are looking for a few volunteers to help us set up antennas and gear starting at 09:00 AM on Saturday, June 27.

If you’ve been looking for a way to grow your skills, “burn” some airwaves, and see what Field Day is all about, we would be honored to have you behind the mic.

How to Sign Up: Please reply to this email with your name, callsign, and your preferred two-hour operating slot (e.g., Saturday 4 PM – 6 PM). If you are available to help with the Saturday morning setup, please let me know as well!
