PCARS (K8BF)

PCARS Contesters:

This coming weekend (Oct. 4-5) we will be participating in the California QSO Party. We will be trying to repeat last year’s performance in which K8BF took first place in the United States, in our category. We have done this a few years in a row now and I want to see if we can keep this string going.

We are looking for operators to put our 4 operating positions on the air. We will be in the Multi-Multi category once again. And if we can get some ops who are handy with CW, that would be absolutely awesome.

We will start to gather at 10AM on Saturday with the contest starting at Noon (1600 UTC Saturday) and ending at 6PM (2200 UTC) on Sunday.

Hope to see many members come out to help us.

Amateur radio has tried for years to get antenna restrictions put in place by HOA’s removed. To date efforts have failed.

The campaign currently underway hopes to get legislation in place to remove these rules. Every ham can help make this possible by simply using your phone or computer to scan the QR code above. PCARS Contesters and Friends of PCARS:

A friendly reminder: Our Black Squirrel Contest Group will be putting K8BF on the air this weekend Sept. 20-21 (that’s tomorrow)participating in the Washington State Salmon Run. That’s their state QSO Party.

The event runs from 1600UTC on Saturday to 0700UTC (Noon until 3AM) on Sunday and then there is a break. The contest then continues from 1600UTC on Sunday until it finishes at 2400UTC (Noon until 8PM) Sunday evening. So this is a 23 hr contest. It is a CW/Pho only contest. Sorry, no FT8 or any digital at all.

We will be entering in the “Unlimited” category. It’s the one that allows Multi op/Multi transmitter entries. I would like to see a couple of CW ops, in addition to our regular pho ops, join us so that we can make a very good showing in this contest.

We will be gathering, starting around 10am on Saturday to review the rules. Hope to see a lot of you at the club site for this event.

Tomorrow we will be having our Antenna SIG starting at 7 PM at PCARS World HQ. We will not be doing this by Zoom this month. We will be outside running some experiments, so Zoom is useless. Please try to come out for this meeting.
