PCARS Flex Net Wednesday March 12th 8 PM

The next PCARS Flex Net will be held on Wednesday March 12th at 8:00 PM. The net will be held on 10 meters, USB Phone. The frequency for this net will be 28.350 MHz, +/- QRM. Technician class license holders are authorized to operate in this portion of the band and is a good opportunity to get some HF net experience!

The Flex Net is a great place to contact other PCARS members and QSL for the PCARS A to Z Award. Information about this award can be found on the PCARS web site under the “Awards” tab. The net is a lot of fun and gives valuable feedback on how well your station is operating. I hope to hear you then!

Idaho & Wisconsin QSO Parties Saturday March 8th

Greetings PCARS Contesters:

Welcome to another contest announcement. This one is for the Idaho and Wisconsin QSO Parties that take place this weekend, Saturday, Mar. 8th and Sunday, Mar. 9th. The Idaho party starts at 2PM local time on Saturday and runs for 24 hrs. The Wisconsin party starts at 2PM on Sunday and runs for 8 hrs. (Remember you should have turned your local time clocks ahead one hour. Please leave your UTC clocks alone.)

The modes for these contests are CW and Phone, and Digital is counted as CW but FT8/FT4 is not permitted in either contest. We need to remember to stay clear of the National Calling Frequencies.

Your aim is to work as many Idano and Wisconsin stations as possible and your multipliers are the states’ counties.

Reminders: For those of you who are planning to work either of these contests from your QTH, download the latest versions of your logging program. Make sure you read the rules for the contests. And make sure you list Portage County Amateur Radio Service as your club affiliation when doing your Cabrillo log.

For those of you who plan to join us at the club site to put K8BF on the air, we will be gathering about an hour before each contest to review rules and any last minute items. I hope to see many members attending.

OK contesters….GO GET THEM AND HAVE FUN!!
