Hello PCARS Contesters & DXers:

Another friendly reminder that we will be holding our first DX/Contesting Special Interest Group meeting of 2024, next Tuesday evening, January 23, at 7PM at PCARS World HQ.

As mentioned before, our main topic will be choosing the 2024 Contest Schedule. We will discuss and make plans on how we will set up the operating positions for the various contests and discuss any special aspects of certain contests that are chosen. Those who will want to operate this year, please plan on attending. This will be your chance to get your input heard.

Hopefully, the WX will cooperate, and we will be able to get to the clubsite. We will keep you all updated. So, I hope to see many of you there or attending by ZOOM.

Ohio VHF Simplex Contest is this weekend

If you don’t feel like going out this weekend, then how about a fun on the air event that everyone can participate in?
The Ohio VHF simplex Contest is happening on Saturday, and runs from 10AM – 4PM.
The concept is simple;
1) Enjoy simplex operations in the common VHF and UHF bands
2) Test preparedness for communications
3) Develop new capabilities and systems.

Head out to our POTA ParkPedition at Wingfoot Lake State Park. We’ll have a VHF station up, and will be running K8BF for the Simplex Contest.

The weather is looking to be cold, so please prepare accordingly. Bring hand warmers, gloves, and a hat! The heaters will be going all day, and the food will be nice and hot. We’ll be operating from the heated tent as long as we can tolerate it.

The Antenna SIG meetings are open to all PCARS members and guests. All ham radio operators or anyone interested in Amateur Radio are also welcome to attend.

We will be discussing all aspects of antenna design, construction, test equipment, and experimentation. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, and talk about their antenna related projects with the group.
