Idaho & Wisconsin QSO Parties Saturday March 8th

Greetings PCARS Contesters:

Welcome to another contest announcement. This one is for the Idaho and Wisconsin QSO Parties that take place this weekend, Saturday, Mar. 8th and Sunday, Mar. 9th. The Idaho party starts at 2PM local time on Saturday and runs for 24 hrs. The Wisconsin party starts at 2PM on Sunday and runs for 8 hrs. (Remember you should have turned your local time clocks ahead one hour. Please leave your UTC clocks alone.)

The modes for these contests are CW and Phone, and Digital is counted as CW but FT8/FT4 is not permitted in either contest. We need to remember to stay clear of the National Calling Frequencies.

Your aim is to work as many Idano and Wisconsin stations as possible and your multipliers are the states’ counties.

Reminders: For those of you who are planning to work either of these contests from your QTH, download the latest versions of your logging program. Make sure you read the rules for the contests. And make sure you list Portage County Amateur Radio Service as your club affiliation when doing your Cabrillo log.

For those of you who plan to join us at the club site to put K8BF on the air, we will be gathering about an hour before each contest to review rules and any last minute items. I hope to see many members attending.

OK contesters….GO GET THEM AND HAVE FUN!!

73 – Chuck W8PT

DX/Contest SIG – **Tonight** -Tuesday February 25th at 7 PM

Hello PCARS DXers & Contesters:

This is a gentle reminder that the DX/Contesting Special Interest Group meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 25th at 7PM at our World Famous headquarters. If we have bad WX, we can always meet on ZOOM.

Among our topics of discussion will be the Idaho and Wisconsin QSO Parties that take place March 8-9. We will be going over the Rules and how we will be operating for these contests.

We will also review our QRP event, Freeze Your Acorns Off, which took place this year on Feb. 15. We want to see if there is any interest in having members work from their own QTHs for any of the contests that we will be doing this year. Our last contest from the clubsite offered some glitches with our rigs and/or the software, so we also want to discuss those.

As always, the meeting will be available on ZOOM. So I hope to see a lot of members either in person or on ZOOM. We also want to discuss the vagaries of the ZOOM App and the slight problem it presents.

Hope to see many of you at the club site or on ZOOM.

Event: DX/Contesting Special Interest Group meeting

Topic: Various topics as listed above

Time: Feb. 1, 2025 at 07:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)

PCARS K8BF is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
