Hi PCARS members!

Would you like to expand your skillset? Well, on November 9th, we are hosting another group build session.

This one will cover basic soldering/desoldering techniques. No, I’m not going to demonstrate hot air rework stations, but rather the basic soldering techniques we’re all most likely to run into in our Ham Radio lives.

From cleaning & tinning the tip to practicing proper soldering techniques and working with circuit boards, you’ll learn how to handle a soldering iron.

Besides learning a new skill, you’ll come away from the morning with a fun project that you’ve built. For this session, we’ll be building a Two-tone European style siren. This will be just the thing to annoy the loved ones in your life!

Are you or your kids studying for the BSA Electronics Merit badge? Knowing how to solder/desolder is a part of the requirements.

The PCARS 5th Tuesday SIG (Could be Anything SIG) on October 29 will be a mini hamfest. Gene and I will get the doors opened by 5pm and set up club items that are for sale. Please bring some of your own items that you’d like to sell. We will set up on tables in bays 2 and 3, and plan to be there until 9pm.

Tuesday October 29, 2024, 5 p.m. at the PCARS club site on Oakwood Ave. in Ravenna. Come on down, we always have a good time solving all the problems of the world!

CENTER OF HOPE

Hi everyone,

We have a fantastic club, with incredible members and a GREAT clubhouse. You all know that.

Do you also know that 10-12 people doing 95% of the work for the club?

Next month, we will have our election of officers for the club. Also, we have other positions that need to be filled. Consider running for:

• President
• Vice President
• Secretary (appointed by the President)
• Trustee

Can’t commit to serve on the Board?

• Antenna SIG coordinator
• PCARS photographer
• Membership Chairman
• Public Information Officer

Can’t commit to the above positions?

• talk to one of the officers about helping
• talk to one of the SIG coordinators about helping
• get involved with clean up days
• help with FYAO
• help with POTA activities
• help with Field Day
• help with monthly meeting setup/teardown

Even an hour or two each month could make a difference!

The Antenna SIG meetings are open to all PCARS members and guests. All ham radio operators or anyone interested in Amateur Radio are also welcome to attend. We will be discussing all aspects of antenna design, construction, test equipment, and experimentation. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, and talk about their antenna related projects with the group.
