At the August Antenna SIG Meeting we discussed end fed antennas and which balun to use, 49:1 or 9:1. We also talked about NVIS antennas and which would be best for OSPOTA.

The Antenna SIG meetings are open to all PCARS members and guests. All ham radio operators or anyone interested in Amateur Radio are also welcome to attend. We will be discussing all aspects of antenna design, construction, test equipment, and experimentation. Everyone is welcome to join the discussion, and talk about their antenna related projects with the group.

PCARS will be looking for a new Antenna SIG Moderator starting in January, 2025. If interested please contact Mike KP4VZ to apply.

PCARS would like to thank June Germ, wife of former member Dave Germ, WV8P/SK who donated several pieces of Ham equipment to our club. See list below.

This equipment plus several other miscellaneous items will be available for purchase by any PCARS member at the next Net Night at the Club (26-Sep) or by contacting trustee Gene Marsh, W8NET (W8net@me.com).

Equipment will be offered to active member first.

Our next Portable Operations SIG will be tomorrow, Tuesday, September 11th.

Last month’s group build of 20 Meter Dipoles was very well attended, But, it got dark before we can test all of them. If you built an antenna at last months SIG, Feel free to come out and we will test them for you. I will have my spider beam mast and we’ll set up as an inverted V.

Since We are just a few days away from OSPOTA, And I didn’t get to play this year, I want to hear how it was for you folks. What worked for you? What didn’t work for you? Etc.

We’ll be meeting at the PCARS world headquarters, 705 Oakwood St, Ravenna, at 7pm.
